The Place
de l'Indépendance Branch: The Client Portfolio
On
August 19th, we briefly introduced you to the Place de l'Indépendance
branch, inaugurated in January 2000. Let's propose you today its
client Portfolio.
1. Location
 |
The
place de l'Indépendance Branch is located in the heart
of the city of Bujumbura, at Avenue du commerce on the southern
side of the Place de l'Indépendance (Independence Square)
at some metres from the Interbank Burundi head office.
|
|
A banking environment
therefore since a long time, made up of operations with big enterprises,
pharmacies, shops, boutiques, and other services companies which
are mostly clients of the Bank.
While it was
also meant to shelter the second exchange Bureau, following the
exchange reform of July 1999, the establishment of the Place de
l'Indépendance Branch was also aiming at decentralising
the services of the Head Office towards the corner clients.
2. The
client portfolio
|
The Place
de l'Indépedance branch today is operating with:
- Nearly
2000 operational accounts, among them 200 in hard currency
;
- a
credit portfolio of BIF 5 billion ;
- and
an accumulation of hard currency returns of about 1.5 million
US dollars per year.
|
|
Very characteristic
of the branch environment, this portfolio is mostly made of
services and trading companies, but also of NGO's, UN officials,
and other expatriates as far as the hard currency portfolio
is concerned.
The branch
Manager, Mr Seff GAHWA says: "It's a client portfolio
which is most accustomed to the banking environment, more
alert, better trained and informed to which we reserve a clean
professional service"
He adds:"
Besides that service of quality, the clients say they appreciate
the operational fittings of the Branch, without forgetting
the back side wide parking at their disposal".
