Follow up and
end of our assessment of Interbank Burundi Muyinga branch : an overview
of its client portfolio.
1. Background
 |
The province
of Muyinga is populated by 600,000 inhabitants, located in
seven communes and has got 15 commercial centres operating
on two days and several socio-economic infrastructures.
The provincial
centre is inhabited by 8,000 persons and shelters several
distribution businesses, ranging from dry food items, to clothing
and gold trading.

Several non-governemental
organizations are also operating in the province, notably IMC, INTER-SOS,
Agro Action Allemande ...as well as development projects like the
Rice Farming Project funded by FAO.
Muyinga branch
has become today the major bank for all those economic agents holding
important market shares of the client segments made of the markets
of Muyinga and the main trading centres of the province, notably
Ruzo, Murama, Giteranyi.

The operations portfolio
After a year of operations, Muyinga branch is running with
:
- nearly
900 operational accounts;
- a
deposit portfolio of 400M;
- a
credit portfolio of 250 M;
- an
average daily payments of 25 M;
- an
average daily withdrawals of 17 M;
- and
an average pay-in of 40.
