It is evident
from the above figures that Interbank Burundi has satisfactorily
fulfilled the major mission of any commercial bank, notably to collect
resources and to finance the economy.
Thus, with a
broadly positive margin between the resources and the fundings the
bank has played a constantly growing part in financing the economy,
moving respectively from 4.9 and 7.1 % of the total contributions
by the financial and banking sectors to respectively 19.8 and 24.0
% today.
Concerning the
collection of deposits, it is worthnoting the preponderance of deposits
at sight (85% by end October 2002), as a result of the corner strategy
of the Bank , operating through a wide distribution network expanding
up to the poor areas of the city like Buyenzi and Jabe or the commercial
centres of the country.
This distribution
policy will be largely extended to you in our next release.
