Opening of
an Interbank Burundi Counter at Bujumbura International Airport
 |
Third
step of our sight on new establishments at working sites,
the Bujumbura International Airport
Counter which started operating a week before the one
at NOVOTEL Hotel.
As an
integral part of our distribution policy, the collection at
home has been attracted by Bujumbura International Airport
since a long time, for the benefit of two important clients,
notably SOBUGEA and Air Burundi Companies.

1.
Why to open a counter at Bujumbura International Airport ?
Bujumbura
International Airport is the second entry and exit point for commodities
and the first window to the world.
For example, and for the unique fiscal year 2001, that airport has
recorded in-coming air freight of 3,085 tons and out -door air freight
of 237 tons out of respectively a total import of 177,126 tons and
a total export of 37,689 tons.
In the same
period, it recorded a movement of 36,658 passengers coming in and
35,454 persons departing from Bujumbura.
Those movements
of persons and goods are obviously coupled with important financial
flows which should increase a great deal with the resumption of
imports and investments projects following the current disbursements
of external funding ; which justifies our presence at Bujumbura
International Airport with an Interbank Burundi Counter operating
since a month ago.
2.
Assessment
Recorded
operations since then confirm how judicious is the choice of that
site as the Interbank Burundi Counter at Bujumbura International
Airport is continuously consolidating the daily collection from
our clientele, i.e. an average daily collection of 10 M all currencies
taken together, while certifications of checks paid to the Customs
Collector are amounted to more than an average of 30 M per day.
3.
