Opening an Interbank Counter at Hôtel Méridien Source du Nil.

Fourth phase of our visit guided by new implantations at work sites, with the counter at Hôtel Mériden Source du Nil which started last June 29th.

The opening of this counter shortly followed -less than a year-the counters at Novotel Hotel, the International Airport of Bujumbura and in the Building of the Ministry of Finance.

1. Why a counter at Hôtel Mériden Source du Nil ?

Second hotel in Bujumbura in terms of its occupation capacity, Hôtel Mériden Source du Nil is on the contrary, the best one equipped with infrastructures ready to fit meetings and international conferences.

Asset of an outstanding importance in this period of significant progress with the peace process and deployment of UN mission in Burundi.

We are as well informed that the Hotel might be occupied by a great part of the UN staff, around 200 people.

All these opportunities are, of course, likely to swell the treasury of our relation. The Hotel justifies firmly the implantation of a counter in its full practice instead of the simple home collection previously executed inwards.

Beyond that objective, the setting up of this counter would contribute in the strengthening of the outstanding image of the bank.

.2. Evaluation

Around three weeks after its opening, the counter at Hôtel Mériden Source du Nil, makes:

  • an average of 20 millions of daily deposits, all currencies included;
  • around 10 millions of daily withdrawals;
  • and about thirty account openings.

An activity which ought to be kept sustained as INTERBANK BURUNDI was exclusively entrusted with the ONUB financial service during a competition with other banks in Bujumbura namely: BANCOBU and BCB.

3. Supervision of the counter

At the Hotel, the counter is run by Miss. Liliane UWASE .Being a middle executive of a large experience in banking operations, she previously worked in the customer Department and at the Port agency as a chief receptionist. She also worked recently in the International Department.

Graduated at the High Institute of Management Control (ISCG) and at the English Language Centre (ELC), Miss. Liliane UWASE speaks English and French fluently and had proved to be the best candidate for the supervision of the counter at Hotel Meriden Source du Nil.
