Two important
speeches have been delivered: the one for welcome and presentation by Mr Georges
COUCOULIS, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank and the one by Mr Claver
GAHUNGU, representing the Finance Minister, held up with dignity. The
two speakers appreciated by turns Interbank Burundi commercial and financial performances
during the last twelve years, insisting especially on its distribution network,
the most wide spread of the country with 19 sites of exploitation, and its results
for 2004, which, for the fifth consecutive year, exceeded the billion of BIF ,
in settling to 1,847,0 M. Mr
Georges COUCOULIS had to underline otherwise that the New Implantation at UPRONA
Boulevard., like the new buildings of the Branches at the Central Market and at
Ngozi, respectively inaugurated in 2004 and 2001, enrols in the approach of improvement
of the clientele welcome conditions. Approach
rooted in the commercial and political philosophy of the bank dedicated from a
long time ago to the clientele and which constitutes an organisational and innovating
response to the development and to the blossoming of its activity portfolio.
Under the direct framing of Mr Eugene RUTAZIBWA, Business Manager, the services
offered by this new entity go from the withdrawals and deposits operations proper
to all Branch or bank counters of full exercise, to the set of the operations
with the International Department by getting through an autonomous Forex Bureau
and the transfer and fund receipt service, WESTERN UNION. As
for Mr Claver GAHUNGU, he especially invited banks and financial institutions
to decidedly buckle down in a voluntarist manner three important sites: the
microfinance, the decentralization towards the inside of the country, the supervision
and the struggle against money laundering. It
is after "congratulating once again Interbank Burundi for this new gem which
henceforth embellishes the Centre City of Bujumbura" and inviting "all
commercial Banks to compete in the multiplication of infrastructures and of corner
services as this one" that the representative of the Finance Minister enclosed
his speech and declared open the New Implantation of Interbank Burundi at UPRONA
Boulevard.
