SOCIAL ACTIVITY

Personnel

Management of Human Resources

In this field, the bank implements, since some years, a policy that is centred on the maintenance of staff empowerment, its welfare, enthousiasm and adaptability.

This policy is expressed through encouraging human resources mobility and prospective management.

For the year 2001, the Bank:

  • has extended its inter-agencies rotation to the Branches Managers who almost all got new assignments;
  • operated 47 promotions including two new levels: the assistant Branch Managers and the management and Branch Directors secretaries; the main objective being to anticipate the evolution of our profession;
  • created an evaluation form that take into account the possibilities and potentialities of the collaborators as well as their integration in the sales teams.

Training

Training remains entrusted with a twofold mission, namely:

  • the preservation and consolidation of our positions require from us to be able to respond to the constantly increasing requirements of our customers and thus, maintaining the professionalism of our collaborators;
  • confronted with the many challenges inherent to the politico-economic environment, training aims at educating and sensitising the staff on the suppression of errors and superfluous activities, as well as the efficient use of means which are the foundations of the necessary improvement in productivity and in the preservation of profit making.

Thus, in the framework of the 2001 programme "Reinforcement of Risks Management", exchange sessions with the staff have been organised on operational and administrative risks prevention.

Human Development

Convinced of the importance of the human assets in the bank industry, the Bank pursued its search of the best socio-professional environment conducive to a better productivity.

Apart from the optimisation of the staff welfare through various bonuses and allocations, the Bank has particularly endeavoured to motivate its staff through constantly seeking their adhesion, communication, enriching the job descriptions and increasing their responsibilities.

THE BANK AND ITS ENVIRONMENT

Since a certain number of years, the Bank has been creating and improving its image of a bank for citizens through its various interventions in favour of the communities in which it operates, through its entire distribution network.

This preoccupation has been primary translated into actions that are geared towards persons and groups undergoing hardships, the artistic and cultural promotion, sports and training development.

In the field of humanitarian and charitable action, INTERBANK BURUNDI has kept its assistance to the victims of the crisis through its donations in cash and in goods in order to help them to better take care of themselves.

In the field of arts and culture, the Bank has continued enriching its collection of artistic objects by acquiring twenty other pictures by the Artist-Painter "Methode NDAYIHEKE" whose exhibition had been sponsored by the Bank in April-May 2000.

Concerning the promotion of sports, it continued its support to golf, tennis and athletic competitions by contributing to the success of the Semi-Marathon and March for Peace "Move for Peace" organised in Bujumbura on December 8, 2001
In addition, it also successfully organised the challenge INTERBANK GOLF TROPHY, edition 2001, by giving numerous prizes with the Bank logo.

As far as training is concerned, the Bank continued to support the training of young trainees completing their studies.
