Director's Report
The Bank in its environment

The Bank has chosen since long time ago to get involved in the life of the communities and collectivities among which it is developing through four types of actions: humanitarian interventions, the promotion of art and culture, the sporting partnerships and training.

In the humanitarian area, the Bank has been always paying attention to the needs of vulnerable groups especially the persons living with HIV/AIDS, by providing them with financial support and multiform assistance, and has kept assisting local collectivities in terms of infrastructures at grassroots such as the construction of schools and hospitals.

Concerning art and culture, INTERBANK BURUNDI has pursued the supply to its collection of works of art by acquiring almost all the tables of Artist - painter Methode NDAYIHEKE whom it had co-sponsored a great exhibition in April - May 2000.

Still in the field of art, and with the aim to reveal unknown talents, it ordered great publicity posters from the photographer-reporter Thierry BRICHARD; and the result of his work has constituted the theme of the Bank's publicity campaign launched in November 2003:"Avec INTERBANK, toujours plus haut, toujours plus loin."

Concerning the development of sport, INTERBANK BURUNDI has since long tied links of partnership in three sports while put forward the Bank's own values: Golf, tennis and athletics.

It has thus co-sponsored the tournaments of "Golf Bujumbura Invitational" and "Tennis Regional" held in Bujumbura respectively in May and August 2003.

As regards training, the Bank has continued to welcome young trainees in or ending training in order to help some among them to complete their theoretical apprenticeship and others to be tested whether they can be recruited and thus contribute to their insertion in the socio-professional life.

In the two categories, the Bank has also received trainees on studies abroad, notably at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales de Lille, in France
